Aikido is back at IIL Camps for this Summer edition! More than a Japanese martial art, Aikido is a sport and above all a true philosophy of life.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This introduction to Aikido will be given to 8 to 13 year olds by Christophe Larive, a qualified and experienced instructor, black belt, 5th dan aikikai, who has lived in Japan for 10 years.<\/p>\n

The practice of Aikido allows children to learn self defence in a fun way and to better manage stress and conflicts<\/strong>. The physical work around the gestures and motor coordination allows to develop a certain stability, as well on the psychic as on the motor level. Aikido is an excellent way to let off steam while respecting oneself and the partner. It helps to channel energy and manage emotions. Through its practice, children work on their postural attitude, control and coordination of movements. The use of wooden accessories allows the child to centre himself more quickly, to erase parasitic gestures, to build up movements with precision, and to anchor in him the notions of danger and safety.<\/p>\n

Finally, adherence to Bushido (the traditional Japanese martial arts code of honour) and the distinctive spirit of non-violence that characterises Aikido will enable children to develop self-control and moral values such as modesty, courage, sincerity, kindness, respect and politeness.<\/p>\n

The word Aikido means: AI<\/strong> = Harmony KI<\/strong> = Energy DO<\/strong> = Path !<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong> a kimono is recommended (if you have one), but not mandatory; sportswear is sufficient to participate in this camp.<\/em><\/p>\n

Practical information<\/h3>\n

8:30am-8:55am: welcome \/ registration at IIL<\/p>\n

9:00am-10:30am: 1st part of morning camps<\/p>\n

10:30am-11:00am: snack and break. A morning snack is provided by IIL Camps to all children prior to playtime<\/p>\n

11:00am-12:30pm: 2nd and final part of morning camps<\/p>\n

12:30pm: end of morning camps<\/p>\n

Children attending morning camps only will NOT be able to have lunch on site<\/strong>. Parents are kindly asked to pick them up at 12:30pm at the IIL entrance gate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Please note that from now on, any delay in collecting your children will result in a charge of CHF 10 per child for every quarter of an hour or part thereof. Thank you for your understanding.<\/em><\/p>\n

Should you wish to allow your child to go home alone, please ensure that you send us your written consent by email to iil-camps@iil.ch before the start of the camps; otherwise, we will not be able to allow them to leave IIL.<\/strong><\/p>\n

LUNCH OPTIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

If you would like your child to stay with us for the full day, you may enroll them in an afternoon (PM) camp. Only in this case<\/strong> will they be able to have lunch on site (12:30pm-02:00pm). When registering for this morning camp, you can choose between:<\/p>\n

  • Signing them up for the canteen (additional fee of CHF 105 per week)<\/li>\n
  • Providing a packed lunch every day for them to eat at IIL (supervision and activities included, no additional fee)<\/li>\n
