IIL Camps is delighted to offer young explorers aged 8 to 10 a unique botany workshop, in partnership with the prestigious Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques de Genève (CJBG). Immerse yourself in the captivating world of the CJBG’s greenhouses, a veritable treasure trove of biodiversity!

To kick off this sensory adventure, children will put their sense of smell to the test by trying to guess the aromas of plants that we sometimes come across in our kitchens. Will they be able to recognise cinnamon, vanilla or pepper? And above all, will they be able to find these plants among the living collections in the greenhouses? By observing them closely, our young botanists will be amazed by the unexpected shapes and exotic origins of these plants.

The second part of the workshop will stimulate their sense of touch: children will have to identify seeds of all shapes and textures. Through meticulous observation, they will discover the ingenious stratagems used by plants to disperse their seeds around the world.

Join us for an afternoon full of discovery and wonder at the heart of Switzerland’s largest public botanical garden, a veritable paradise for nature lovers!

Practical information

1:45pm-1:55pm: welcome/ registration at IIL

2:00pm: departure to Jardin botanique with IIL school bus

2:30pm-4:30pm: botany workshop

4:30pm: return to IIL with school bus

5:00pm: end of camps

Afternoon snacks are provided to all children by IIL Camps.

Parents are kindly asked to pick up their children at the IIL entrance gate, at 5pm.

Late pick-up option possible, up to 6pm: +15chf/day

Should you wish to authorise your child to return home alone, please send us your authorisation by email to iil-camps@iil.ch

Children attending a whole day of camps will be able to have lunch on site (12:30pm-2pm).

Children attending afternoon camps only will not be able to have lunch on site.
