NEW! ART EXPLORA for 8-13 year-olds!
Welcome to a camp where imagination takes over!
Whether you’re dreaming of drawing your ideal world, creating your own style or trying out lots of fun and creative artistic techniques, ART EXPLORA will take you on a week full of colour, ideas and inspiration. From the house of your dreams to the design of your skateboard, here almost anything can be designed… and invented! Here’s the programme!
Monday – Line, shape, graffiti/street art, typography, 3D work
On this first day, children will discover a new way of approaching drawing, so they can progress while having fun. They will explore current and creative styles that will enable them to develop their technique and give their work even more personality. They’ll also learn simple but effective tricks for depicting what they have in mind with precision. Using the world of graffiti and street art typography, they’ll work on the notions of line and shape, while experimenting with different shading techniques to give their drawings volume and a 3D effect. And if the weather cooperates, an outing is planned to sketch nature and put all these new skills into practice in an inspiring setting!
Tuesday – Drawing with perspective, architectural drawing, designing the room and house of your dreams!
On this Tuesday, children will learn how to draw using perspective, to make their work more realistic and create lively, believable scenes. Step by step, they’ll discover the basics of one-point perspective, then two-point perspective, ideal for drawing buildings, and even three-point perspective to take things a step further, like real budding architects! They will also learn how to draw houses, buildings and interior spaces, and will be able to imagine and draw the house or bedroom of their dreams, letting their creativity run wild.
Wednesday – Drawing people, faces and animals
Today is all about observation and detail! Children will discover simple but effective tricks to make their drawings more faithful to reality. Drawing a human face may seem difficult at first, but with a few well-chosen techniques, they’ll learn how to create expressive, realistic portraits. And for animal lovers, this will be a chance to practise drawing dogs, cats, horses, birds… or any other animal of their choice! A workshop that develops your sense of proportion, form and character.
Thursday – Skateboard design
This Thursday, it’s all about originality and creativity with a fun workshop devoted to skateboard design! Children will discover how to create unique and captivating designs, while exploring the world of skateboard culture. Participants will have the opportunity to draw and paint for skateboards, by experimenting with colours and using different techniques (please note that there will not be any work on actual skateboards though).
Friday – Final project and learning how to create amazing colours
On this final day, children will explore the fascinating world of colours! If they sometimes have trouble finding the perfect shade or mastering the colours with paint or pencils, this workshop will give them all the keys they need to achieve the perfect colour. They’ll learn how to create a colour palette to suit their mood. To make it even more fun, they’ll be challenged to create the most beautiful colour… or the weirdest! It’s a fun and creative way for everyone to let their imaginations run wild, and the results will be… surprising!
Finally, everyone will complete their artistic projects for the week, leaving with magnificent creations to proudly display at home and remember this creative adventure with their friends.
This camp is designed and led by Louise Peacocke, an art teacher at IIL for over 14 years. Louise is passionate about helping her students create meaningful works of art. She is also an accomplished artist and holds a Master’s degree in Sculpture and Fine Arts from the Royal College of Art in the UK.
Please note: although we’ve designed this programme to guide children through inspiring creative projects, we also encourage everyone to follow their own artistic path. So, if they’re more interested in painting, they can spend the week learning to paint in oil, acrylic or watercolour. If they prefer to work on other artistic projects of their choice, they are free to do so, as long as their creativity flourishes and their skills progress. The most important thing is that they have fun and feel proud of their achievements!
Prerequisites: for all these art days, it is preferable to wear clothes that can get dirty or stained. Protective shirts will be available if necessary.
