Come and explore two unique Brazilian martial arts… and get your whole body moving!
Malhado, our favourite capoeirista, is back to amaze us and share his passion and Brazilian “joie de vivre”, with this ‘introduction to Capoeira & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’ camp for 7-12 year-olds.
A dance, martial art, music, wrestling, folklore and philosophy all rolled into one, capoeira is an ancestral Afro-Brazilian art that combines good humour, “joie de vivre” and sharing to the sound of traditional Brazilian instruments.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is also a martial art. Gentle and strategic, it is based on ground holds, projections and control techniques. Emphasising technique, strategy and reflection, it is a combat discipline and personal defence system derived from judo and ju-jitsu.
Malhado will introduce children to these 2 sports, with warm-ups, stretching and technical exercises such as kicking and dodging. Group and individual recreational activities will also be offered during these afternoons, including the making of a Brazilian folk musical instrument. Children will be able to demonstrate and enrich their ability to improvise, create and communicate through their bodies. It’s a great way to share and exchange ideas, to the rhythm of percussion and songs in Portuguese.
No particular linguistic or physical predisposition is required.
Tudo Bem!
