“From farm to fork…” Camp: A Sensory Journey Through Soil, Cooking, and Eco-Conscious Living!

What if children could become gardeners, cooks, flavor explorers, and little nature protectors, all in one week?
This camp offers children aged 8 to 11 a full sensory dive into the world of gardens, healthy cooking, and the natural environment around. Designed as a joyful and hands-on adventure, the program blends nature walks, outdoor games, creative workshops, and cooking activities to spark curiosity, engage the senses, and introduce kids to a more local, responsible, and delicious way of consuming!

On the menu: five nature-filled, flavorful, and enriching mornings:

Monday – Plants & Harvesting Naturally

-A short discovery walk to “Les Grands Champs” for a full immersion into a permaculture garden, in collaboration with the association Là où sont tes pieds.

-Photo safari to discover herbs, vegetables, chickens, tiny soil creatures, and the garden’s key features (greenhouses, composting toilets, farming tools).

-Sensory exploration of the soil, mint and chive picking, vegetable tastings… and maybe spotting a few snails or bees along the way!

Tuesday – Nature Walk & Community Garden

-A walk along the river Aire leading to Navazza Park.

-Harvesting fruits, vegetables, and herbs at the communal garden, followed by a snack enhanced with aromatic plants.

-Visit to a local solidarity grocery store to donate our harvest; a great chance to discuss sharing, the link between nature and community support, and the impact of local action. (Note: The local council ensures that all produce from the Navazza garden is donated to this solidarity initiative.)

Wednesday – Garden & Homemade Cooking

-Walk through the Parc des Evaux, with an orientation game through its gardens.

-Cooking workshop: children prepare their own homemade ketchup using fresh tomatoes and herbs they’ve picked. Potting and decorating session: each child proudly takes home their delicious creation!

Thursday – Bees & Biodiversity

-Walk along the Aire followed by a fun guided tour of Navazza Park with Glocal, an association committed to sustainable development.

-Visit to an educational beehive: kids observe bees, learn about their vital role, and taste local honey. A sweet and inspiring day!

Friday – Chickens & Garden Omelette

-Visit to the chicken coop: observe the hens, feed them with organic food scraps, and maybe even collect some freshly laid eggs!

-Cooking workshop to make a zucchini omelette using the morning’s eggs and garden vegetables.

The camp is run by Annik Linder Camacho, an IIL teacher with a passion for gardening, gourmet recipes and plant-based cooking. Each day, children will learn through immersive, playful, and hands-on experiences where food comes from and how fruits and vegetables grow. They’ll get their hands in the soil, learn to identify plants, harvest herbs, and prepare colorful, seasonal recipes.

A microscope and laptop will also be part of the adventure, allowing kids to observe the buzzing life in soil and plants from a whole new perspective, live and up close.

Throughout the week, children will grow more aware of what they eat, understand the value of local produce, and enjoy taking part in every step of the process, from garden to plate! All of this in a caring, exploratory atmosphere filled with nature-based activities and tasty shared meals.

This bilingual (FR/EN) camp is also a great opportunity for international children to discover local cuisine and seasonal ingredients in a fun and delicious way.

A week to awaken all five senses… and plant the seeds of eco-consciousness!

Ready for the adventure?

(In case of rain, alternative activities will be offered, always related to nature and food. The order of outings may be adjusted based on weather and group dynamics.)
