NEW! TEENS IN THE KITCHEN!
Want to treat yourself and others? Swap your screens for an apron this week!
Over the course of 5 afternoons, teenagers will get into the kitchen to learn how to prepare simple, tasty dishes that they can make again at home to surprise family and friends.
From learning the basics to chef’s tips, the pleasure of cooking and the spirit of sharing, this workshop combines autonomy, creativity and conviviality… all in a relaxed and caring atmosphere.
Here are the tasty dishes they’ll be learning to make this week:
Monday – The Art of Cupcakes
Teens will learn how to make beautiful and delicious looking cupcakes, including how to make and colour different frostings. They will learn techniques to excel in the art of cupcake and cake decorating!
Optional activity: if they wish, they can also make their own homemade cake pops. These are colourful little treats on sticks, made from round cakes or brownies that they can decorate and share with their friends! (allergens: gluten, lactose, eggs)
Tuesday – Homemade tacos and Kid-friendly knife safety skills
On Day 2, teenagers will learn how to handle knives safely and make their own tacos. The programme includes making traditional masa (corn-based dough) tortillas using a tortilla press and discovering vegetarian and vegan taco recipes. After this lesson, everyone will be able to host their own taco evening at home. Teens will also learn how to make their own tortilla chips (allergen: lactose).
Wednesday – Pizza masterclass – Get your hands dirty!
Learn how to make your own pizza dough, and give it the shape of your choice. Teens will discover a whole range of recipes that they’ll love making and sharing! Younger children can also learn how to make drawings, faces and fun pizzas that are healthy too.
Optional activity: if they wish, they can make their own focaccia flower bread (with veg) (allergens: lactose, gluten).
Thursday – Healthy and tasty energy bars
Teenagers will learn how to make their own healthy homemade energy bars and snacks, using simple, natural and tasty ingredients including oatmeal, dried fruit, seeds, dark chocolate and honey. They will try out different combinations to create their own personalised recipes, and make energy bars that suit their tastes and needs during school year: bars for sport, healthy snacks, snacks to take away… (allergens: nuts)
Friday – Pasta Party! Make your own pasta!
Say goodbye to packaged-pasta ! here, we are making it from scratch!
In this tasty workshop, teenagers will discover the art of homemade pasta. On the programme: preparing the pasta dough, shaping it by hand, creating a variety of shapes (pappardelle, ravioli, farfalle…), fun colours, and discovering simple but ultra-tasty sauces to accompany them. Which sauces go best with which shapes? If they don’t eat it all during the workshop, they’ll have some lovely pasta to take home and share with the family! (allergens: lactose, eggs)
This cooking workshop is led by Louise Peacocke, an art teacher at IIL who previously worked for 10 years as a private chef in Chamonix. She’s passionate about sharing her skills and enthusiasm with young aspiring cooks, helping them learn to prepare simple, healthy, and tasty meals they can enjoy and share with family and friends.
Get ready for a delicious mix of fun, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen!
Bon appétit!
Please note: This camp is not designed to teach gourmet cuisine or complex professional techniques. Instead, it aims to help teens build basic cooking skills to become more independent in the kitchen and discover the joy of cooking for themselves.
Teenagers can eat everything they’ve prepared or take it home to share with the family.
IMPORTANT: IIL Camps strongly advises against participation in this camp for children suffering from food allergies or intolerances, particularly to nuts, gluten, lactose, eggs, etc. It is imperative that any other food intolerance, however slight, be notified when registering for the camp.
